Harry Potter and the Atuned Stone: Chapter One
It had been nearly twelve years since Harry and Ginny got married, and their children were going off to Hogwarts, well two of them. James, the eldest, was coming for his second year ‘obviously’ he was in Gryffindor. It was Albus Severus’ first year and Amy won’t start until next year.
James and Albus were about to board the train to Hogwarts, it was a gleaming scarlet express, and they bumped into Jane. She was the same age as Albus and they were very excited to see each other. They had been friends from a young age, because they played when their parents met up. The Headmistress of Hogwarts and Muggle Studies teacher, Hermione and Ron, were there to see Jane off to school.
James, Albus and Jane boarded the train and sat down in a carriage. Jane had a cat as her witches’ familiar – a wizard or witch has to have a toad, owl or cat. It was called Strawberry and was a ginger cat, the daughter of Crookshanks and practically had the same features as her father, except for the lack of frying-pan-in-face features. James had an elegant eagle owl called Spirit, the fastest owl that money could buy. It had golden mottled feathers, little tufts of feathers that looked like ears and the eyes were a bright amber. James and Spirit were the best of friends, every time James lifted his hand up, Spirit ducked his head under to get James to stroke it!
Albus also had an owl. His was a huge graceful snowy owl called Skye. She had bright blue eyes, white feathers with black mottles but was quite shy. The only person she would even go close to was Albus, but she was very defensive of him if anyone was being mean to him which happened a lot because he looked exactly like his dad with the crazy hair that just grew everywhere.
Soon after the train left platform 9 and three quarters, Hermione and Ron said farewell to Harry, Ginny and Amy, and did a side-along apparition to Hogsmeade. A side-along apparition is when two people apparate at the same time. They arrived in plenty of time to set up the great hall in preparation for the sorting.
