Castles

Arrow slits are windows in a castle wall. They are for archers to shoot enemies with bow and arrow. The walls were cut away so they can shoot their enemies.

A portcullis is a heavy door that keeps enemies out. If they were under it they would be squashed!

A moat is a deep river that surrounds a castle. It’s job is to drown enemies. A moat without water is called a dry moat.

A murder hole is used for pouring down boiling water and hot oil onto the enemies.
